August Activities
Girl's Lunch Out
Whenever Jessica comes to visit, we have lunch at Ginger's Garden Cafe in Springville. Their food is fresh and healthy and this has become a tradition. Kyra is old enough now that she can join us on this girl's time out!
We enjoy the salads, soup, felafel sandwiches and cookies!
Kyra's - Cheerleader Fundraiser
Kyra tried out last spring to be a cheerleader at Salem Hills High School and much to her delight, made it. The practices, fundraisers and cheering events are many and being a part of the squad is a huge time commitment, but she loves it. During the summer, the cheerleaders held a series of "Cheer Camps" for younger girls. Dorothy, Violet, Ruby, Aleeya and Sareya all enrolled. The cheerleaders then had a fundraiser in August with a dinner, and then a program with cheers and songs that they had learned and the cheers that they had taught at the "Cheer Camp".
The dinner featured a Mexican theme with chips and salsa and tacos.
The girls did a great job on their cheers and songs and we were especially proud of Kyra!!
Education Week was fun this year with Pam and Roger staying with us and attending as well as Lois, Lyle and Karma attending and getting together with them!
Lyle was a presenter again this year and his class was on "Raising Resilient Children".
He did a wonderful job as he shared experiences and used interesting graphics and quotes from many authors. He had the challenge of a screeching microphone sound that disrupted his lecture, but Lyle handled that problem well.
We enjoyed lunch together before his class and had a fun visit. The Burrups are some of my most favorite people on the planet - I just love them!!
Tending the Thomas Kids
Dorothy is also a cheerleader, but at the Junior High. She had a soccer game to cheer for, so I took her to the meeting spot in Salem to catch her ride but, I managed to take these pictures before she left for the game. She is growing up to be such a pretty girl and she is as lovely inside as she is on the outside!!
With Dorothy gone to the game and then a YW Activity, I decided to take Violet, Ruby and Preston to a park in Spanish Fork. They climbed on the playground equipment and then played in the splash park.
Of course, they wanted to dry off and warm up in the sunshine after their water fun!
Once back at home, Dorothy had rejoined them and wanted to teach Violet some new cheerleader "moves".
So fun to see the Burrup's. What a blessing to have kept your friendship through the years. Someday I'm going to join you for Education Week!
