Mickelsen Family Reunion

This past week our whole family gathered at a home we rented in Midway, Utah. It was in a beautiful mountain setting and the home was large and spacious. It was fun cooking meals, playing games and just being all together. The cousins had a great time 4 wheeling, inventing games and the girls even had a "spa" for all the moms. The guys went golfing and the girls went to the Park City Shopping Outlet Mall. We finished our reunion with a ride down the Alpine Slide and the kids loved the rides at the amusement park.

Beautiful Nauvoo

We spent 3 days in Nauvoo and surrounding areas - enjoying a session at the Temple, the Nauvoo Pageant and a visit with our friends - Becky and Steve Smith who are serving a Temple Mission in Nauvoo.
We loved the Pageant and attended it twice - the first night it rained through the entire performance and the second night it was completely dry. We also enjoyed listening to a presentation of "The King Follett Funeral Service" as presented by the actor that took the part of Joseph Smith in the Pageant.

Nauvoo is a beautiful place with a wonderful spirit and memory of our pioneer forefathers. We felt fortunate to be there during the pageant. It was a great trip, but also as always it was good to come home again!

Trip to Branson, Missouri and Nauvoo

Last week we travelled to Branson, Missouri and Nauvoo. While in Branson, we enjoyed 4 great shows. The entertainment in Branson is always wholesome and fun. They honor God, Country and Family. We enjoyed 2 variety shows, the Shanghai Acrobats and a group performing "The Eagle's" music.

A special day at the temple

Tuesday we had the opportunity to take our Russian missionaries to the Mt. Timpanogas Temple (the Provo Temple is closed for renovations). There were 2 in the group that had not yet received their endowments and it was a special session for them. One of the Russian elders in this group came from our mission. We were fortunate to watch him come into the church while we were serving our second mission. He was very close to one of our elders who had served as Branch President in Novokuznetsk - the city that he was from. He wanted this elder (now home from his mission) to serve as his escort on this special day. We actually had 3 of our former missionaries in attendance for this special session and it was great to be with them again. We are enjoying this calling at the MTC! This gives us an opportunity to be with missionaries again and to enjoy special times such as this temple session.

Back to blogging - Driving the Nebo Loop

I have been negligent about blogging in the past few weeks. I guess it is a habit that I have not really developed yet.
This past week - on Monday we took a drive around what is called the Nebo Loop. You head up Payson Canyon and end up in Nephi! The scenery was beautiful and we stopped for a short hike and to take some pictures!
