"Evan's Birthday and "The Speedy Spaniard"

Evan's Birthday

Being born on July 24th has a few perks - as a Utah State holiday, it usually involves a day off work.  This year July 24th was on a Sunday so Monday was a holiday.  We gathered as a family on Sunday evening for some birthday pie and a chance to be together.  We all gathered and the cousins played while the adults had a game of  Trivial Pursuit (Evan's favorite) and of course the men beat the women!

The Speedy Spaniard

July 24,2016
Every year the City of Spanish Fork celebrates Fiesta Days and one of the events is the Speedy Spaniard Race.   Allison, Jon, Tricia & James ran the 10 K (6.12 miles) and Lillian, Sam, Ella, Evie, Preston and Ruby ran the 1 K.  Hal and I picked up the kids and brought them to the 1 K race so that the adults could run the 10 K  which started earlier.  We arrived in time to see Allison and Tricia cross the finish line!  James and Jon had already finished earlier.

 Runners in the 1 K - getting ready - set - GO!

Jessica & Adam's Visit & July 4th

Our very own "Captain America and Spider Woman"
We loved having Jessica, Adam, Liam and Gigi come for a 2 part visit.  They were with us in June after the Ragnar and for the camping trip and then they returned to Layton for a few days to visit Adam's family.
Of course the girls had to go to Gingers for lunch and enjoy their yummy falafel sandwiches and salads.  Kyra joined us this time.

 July 4th and Jon's Birthday

Our fourth of July celebration was in two parts.  First we gathered at our home for a barbecue.  Jessica, Adam and family were in Logan that day at Adam's sister's home to celebrate.  Evan and Kelly and family were in Anaheim, California on a business/pleasure trip.
The kids looked so cute in their 4th of July outfits that I had to take their pictures.

Hal was the chef and the hamburgers and hot dogs were yummy!

Of course everyone wanted to hold baby London!
After dinner, we all loaded up and traveled to Allison and Jon's house for Jon's birthday celebration and fireworks.
We love our own family "firecracker" - Jon - Happy Birthday!

Jon's birthday cheesecake with carmel or hot fudge topping was delicious!
Then came the fireworks fun!
The sparklers were the "grand finale"!

The evening of July 5th, both Jessica and Adam and their family came, as well as Pam and Roger!  We enjoyed a late dinner of a "pasta bar" with chicken, shrimp, mushrooms and a creamy sauce.  It was so fun to be together!

July 7th
I had promised Gigi that we would make cupcakes together.  We prepared and baked the cakes and she helped me make the frosting; then she frosted and decorated them on her own.  Gigi is like her mom, and is a bit of a perfectionist.  She was so dainty and careful as she put the icing on each cake.
Then, she very carefully put the sprinkles on top and....
 WOW the finished product!

                         Yummy!
That evening, we had a family "Pizza Party" so we could spend more time with Jessica, Adam and their family. Gigi's cupcakes made a delicious dessert!
