Catchup, Catchup, Catchup!

I am very behind with my blog! I have been working on a book about my maternal grandparents and devoting my time to that. Now that the book is complete and published, I will attempt to get caught up with blogging. Many things have happened since I last posted in March so I will give brief summaries about many of them and some of the other more important events will warrant a longer post.

This is the book I had been working on.

Mother's Day and May Birthdays

Conrad and Haley gave me this beautiful arrangement for Mother's Day.
That afternoon, we went to Tricia's home to have our "'Come Follow Me" lesson and to celebrate Mother's Day and the May Birthdays. Jessica's birthday is
May 28th.

Dex's birthday is May 11th and he turned 6 this year!
For the double celebration we enjoyed pies and cookies!

Dinner Feasts and a "Belated Easter Egg Hunt"

Evan got a Traeger Smoker and he smoked some ribs so, Evan and Kelly hosted a family dinner to enjoy his delicious creation. With baked potatoes, salad and rolls it was a yummy meal!

These two cousins always have lots of fun together!

Memorial Day Dinner & Egg Hunt

The kids always tease me that most all of the pictures we take are of us getting ready to eat or eating - I guess they are right! It seems that our family gatherings always include food and that is when I remember to take some pictures.
We gathered for Memorial Day and once again enjoyed some meat that Evan smoked in his Traeger - this time it was pork and we enjoyed pulled pork sandwiches with barbecue sauce chips, pasta salad, fresh fruit and veggies.

I had planned an Easter Egg Hunt for Easter weekend, but then when Covid hit, our family did not get together until the end of May. So, we had the Easter Egg hunt then! I had Aleeya come early that day and help me put the candy and coins in the plastic eggs and then the older granddaughters (Lillian, Dorothy and Sareya) hid the eggs. We let the youngest grandkids go first so they would have a head start and then the others joined the hunt for the eggs hidden in our backyard. Most of the eggs had coins - nickels, dimes and quarter, a few of the eggs had $1.00 bills in them, and one egg had a $5.00 bill in it. The kids had a great time and they didn't seem to care that it was the end of May and not Easter time.

John & Cindy Visit

John and I had talked about getting together to decorate the graves so we did just that! They first came to Elk Ridge and spent a couple of nights with us and we mostly just visited to catch up on each others' lives. We did take a drive heading south and then around Utah Lake and on to Saratoga Springs to see all the new housing that is going in there. We then wound up in Lehi and stopped for a photo in front of Great-Grandpa Isaac Fox's home. After that, we stopped in town for some Thai food.
The next day, we drove north to decorate the graves. We first stopped in Wellsville put the flower arrangements on the Park's graves and then on to Logan.
The weather was beautiful that day.
Mom and Dad's graves
Grandpa and Grandma Peterson's graves
Grandpa and Grandma Gabrielsen's graves
Great-Grandma and Grandpa Gabrielsen's graves
After we ate a late lunch, John and Cindy left to drive home to Caldwell and we drove back to Elk Ridge.
