Mission Training at the Salt Lake City Temple

Mission Training at the Salt Lake City Temple

Our Mission began at 7:30 AM October 17th when we reported to the Joseph Smith Building and were then taken with our group of fellow missionaries to the SLC Temple for our training which was held in a chapel in the temple.

Most of our  three day training was provided by past president and matron of the Salt Lake City temple - Oren and Lillian Alldredge.  They were very knowledgeable about temple work and their presentations were excellent and most helpful.  We also heard from the current Temple President and Matron - Temple Department leaders, and Elder Wilford W. Anderson of the General Authority Seventies.

After our training each day, we were free for the evening and on Wednesday evening, I had arranged to meet Glenn and Karen at our hotel restaurant for dinner.  It has been several years since I had seen them and it was great to spend time together and to give the Issac Fox History to Glenn!  We discussed family history and reminisced about times and people past and present.
I am so glad that we finally got together!
On Thursday evening after dinner, we walked over to temple square to the Tabernacle to watch and listen to the Mormon Tabernacle Choir and Orchestra rehearse.
It was awesome!

Our training included a segment in the sealing room that lies under the central spire of the temples under the Angel Moroni.

All the training was great and helped to prepare us for the temple work we would be doing.  On the last day of training, we were priviledged to have a tour of the Salt Lake Temple - truly the "Mother" of all temples!  There are so many rooms, hallways and the wood work and artistry created by the pioneers is amazing and inspiring.  We were permitted to go to the 5th floor to see the Council Room for the Twelve Apostles and First Presidency (shown on the top floor of the drawing).  I came away from this training excited and ready to begin our mission assisting with the wonderful work of the temple!
