The Budge & Ruby Mickelsen Family Reunion
Saturday - August 4, 2012
It was our turn to host the reunion so we gathered at the Elk Ridge City pavilion and enjoyed hoagie sandwiches, potato salad, fresh fruit, baked beans and cookies It was a good time to visit with family and get caught up on each others lives. Hal's sister Ann, her husband Wayne and most of her children and some of her grandchildren attended along with most of our children and grandchildren (we missed you Jessica, Adam and Gigi!)

After breakfast on our last morning there, we headed to the Alpine Slide for an outing with the kids. Out of nowhere, a micro burst thunder and rain storm moved in just as the lift dropped the Dads and kids off for the ride down the mountain. The slide was immediately closed - leaving everyone waiting at the top for either a ride down in a vehicle or they could brave a walk down the mountain in the pouring rain mixed with hail and wind. Our group did a combination of the options and arrived back soaking wet! It was truly an adventure for them - not exactly the adventure that had been planned!
Evan and Kelly and their family (Except Treygan) had taken a ride on the roller coaster and were able to finish the ride during phase 1 of the storm so they got only partially wet. Then we waited for the others to make a safe journey off the mountain.

Sam, Lillian and Alex soaked to the skin!

BYU Education Week
August 13 - 17, 2012
This was a great week with Jessica and Gigi staying with us and Pam and Roger as well! I was also able to meet my dear friends Lois Burrup Brown, her sister Karma and Nancy Garner Stoddard.
Hal, Jessica and I met Nancy, Lois, Karma and her daughter for an early dinner at the Brick Oven on Wednesday night. Then Lois, Jessica, Hal and I attended the concert of Vocal Point - WOW! They gave an awesome performance - I am still trying to figure out how the vocal percussionist made all of those sounds!!
- Nancy, Lois and I
- It was so fun to see my friends again - I was so blessed to grow up with such good companions!
- On Friday afternoon - Jessica and I met Pam and Roger and attended some wonderful classes!
- Then we met Hal and Gigi for dinner at Los Hermanos.
I feel really bad that the Paul Mickelsen family was poorly represented at that reunion :( so sorry! Nate and I would have been there but we were camping with his family...which reminds me, I still need to blog about that. ;) Anyway, Your Park City vacation looked so fun, I LOVE Downton Abbey even Joslyn knows what it is! I am in the middle of season 2 excited for season 3 to start!!
