Elk Ridge Day, Treygan's Homecoming and the Speedy Spanaird

Elk Ridge Day

Every year Elk Ridge has a city celebration and Tricia's City Council assignment is to be in charge of this event.  It includes a parade, dinner, carnival games and an outdoor movie in the evening.
Jessica, Allison, Sam and Jon are waiting for the parade to start.
Ruby, Evie,Violet, Ella and Liam wait for the parade and hopefully some candy!
Our friends and fellow missionaries in Kona - Michael and Shannon Walker -  were there at the parade and it was so good to see them again!  They have a daughter that lives in Elk Ridge and grand kids so they came for the festivities.
Shannon is such a cute grandma!
Tricia throwing candy and representing the City Council in the parade.

James is a member of the Volunteer Fire Department so he also rode in the parade.
One of the floats in the parade with an Aladdin theme was put together by Walker's grand kids and their grandson (named Walker) rode on the float - he was the genie!
Jessica and Allison sold tickets for the dinner and carnival events.
The city celebration was a great success - they raised needed dollars for the Fire Department and it brought our community together in many happy ways.  Good job Tricia - we are so proud of you!!

Treygan's Homecoming

On July 10th we gathered at the Salt Lake City Airport to welcome Elder Mickelsen home.
We all watched and waited for him to come down the escalator and join us.
Kyra in front and Brennan (her boyfriend) behind and Kelly's sister Krystle with balloons.
Jessica and Allison
Hailey, Ruby and Grandpa
London and Dex
Ella, Aleeya, Sareya and Krystel's husband
Adam and Liam watch as he comes down the escalator.
Mom gets the first hugs!! Kelly was so glad to have him home again!
Next it was dad's turn! I think Treygan is now almost as tall as Evan!
Then it was Sareya's turn - Treygan said that she had changed more than any of his siblings.
Aleeya's turn!
I somehow didn't get a picture of Kyra and Treygan.

Grandma Taffy gives him a welcome home hug!
Grandpa Hal welcomes him home!  I did likewise, but didn't get a photo of it.
Jessica gives him a hug!  Treygan got to know Jessica, Adam and the kids well, because he was in their ward for his last transfer and came to dinner at their home each week!
Our happy Elder Mickelsen!!

Cousins waiting for his luggage to arrive.

The whole "Welcome Home" Committee!
Afterward, we went to Cheesecake Factory for lunch.

Our guest of honor and other guests.  It was a special time and so good to see the family support that Treygan has!!

The Speedy Spaniard

Every year on the 24th of July, Spanish Fork hosts the Speedy Spaniard race as a part of their Feista Day's celebration.
They actually have 2 races, a 10 K and a 1 mile race for the kids.
Allison, Tricia, Jessica, James and Jon represented the adults in our family. Evan, Kelly and family were out of town and Adam was back in Minnesota at work or they would have joined the race.

James (who crossed the finish line before I got his picture!) and Jon were first  of our group to finish.
Then Jessica crossed the finish line beating her own previous best time!

Then Tricia and her friend Kim were next.
Then Allison!

Kid's 1 Mile Race

I didn't get a photo of all of them running, but our family was represented by:
Ella, Evie, Preston,Violet, Ruby, Gigi and Liam.

Liam was proud of himself for finishing the race - as he should have been!

We are so proud of all of our runners!

Sam would have loved to enter the 10 K but his doctor advised against it because his wrist hasn't fully healed. He fell 20 feet from a cliff on a Boy Scout outing in June. Through a series of miracles, he survived with only a badly broken wrist, a  minor concussion, a few stitches on his chin and other minor cuts, scratches and bruises.  We are so grateful that the Lord was watching over him!

  1. Wow what a greeting committee for Treygan. I love how your family supports each other in every activity. Great job to all the participants in the race and to Tricia for organizing the Elk Ridge days. Sounds like a fun summer.

  3. I love your header pic of all of you at the airport and what a handsome young man Treygan is! How proud you must be of him and how happy everyone looks to have him home! Tricia is amazing, putting together so many events to coordinate into that big Elkridge event. And wow, what a lot of family members ran in that race! I guess that is one of the good things that has changed since we were growing up. I don't remember ever considering or even hearing about running in a big race! You got so many darling pics of everything and I can see you guys have been busy with your wonderful, big family!
