June and July have been so filled with events, trips and activities that I am totally behind on blog posting. So...I will attempt to catch up. Here is Part I:
Payson Temple Cultural Celebration and Dedication
With three of our grand kids involved in this beautiful event we were able to get tickets and attend. Treygan, Kyra and Alex were part of the 13,000 youth that participated. After months of practice and preparation, the evening of the performance, a powerful thunderstorm with lightning and pounding rain delayed the start time by 1 hour. After countless prayers, miraculously, the storm abated long enough for the show to go on!
Alex was part of Helaman's 2000 Stripling warriors that filled the stadium field.
Another patriotic number was enhanced with red white and blue flags.
Balloons were released and the crowd clapped and rose to their feet in a standing ovation. We were grateful to have been their to witness this historic event!
President Eyring welcomed all the audience and participants and said,"Let's begin filling this stadium with love and light. Let the celebration begin!"
The performances included singing, dancing, tumbling, and narration depicting the rich heritage , history and culture of the area covered by the 27 stakes in the Payson Temple district.
We were fortunate to have great seats to witness this event.
Treygan was part of the "Happy" song presentation. He was chosen to be one of the tumblers for this number.
Kyra was part of the group that presented"Redeemer of Israel" interpreted that powerful hymn with ribbon choreography.
One number included the winding of multiple Maypoles.
The finale was powerful as the thousands of youth sang together - "Fill the World With Love" as they made a rainbow with the colors of their t-shirts displaying their demonstration of their covenant with God that they would fill the world with love!
The next day - June 7th, the Payson Temple was dedicated in three sessions presided over by Pres. Eyring. Payson is now one of the 147 operating temples serving 78,000 latter-day saints from Mapleton to Delta and the 15th temple in Utah. We feel so blessed to have a temple so near and to have the opportunity to serve as temple workers in this beautiful house of the Lord!
How awesome Patty that you got to see your grandkids participate in the Cultural celebration and then you got to go to the temple dedication. What a choice experience! How blessed you are to have a temple so close and that you get to be temple workers!
ReplyDeleteI wrote a big comment earlier and it disappeared, so I will try again. It is wonderful that you got to see the Payson Temple celebration and that the weather cleared up long enough for that much-anticipated and practiced event to take place. And so cool to have 3 grandkids be a part of it! What wonderful memories for them! I'm so glad Roger and I got to go through the open house and see that gorgeous House of the
