Senior Couple Temple Trip

We returned on Thursday from a Senior Couple Temple Trip to Freiberg, Germany which is about a 2 1/2 hour drive from Berlin.  It was a wonderfully spiritual time with the other couples serving in our mission.  We were able to do 6 sessions, have a special fireside with the temple president and also hear from President Kosak.

I love this picture of the temple at night.  When we returned from dinner on Tuesday evening, it was lightly snowing and the imprint of the Angel Moroni can be seen captured in the temple lighting.

With the newly fallen snow, the temple grounds were beautiful!

Many of the couples gathered that evening at a local  restaurant for dinner.
For all of you long time Caldwell people that remember Katy and Ross Cook's family - we learned that Jerry Cook and his wife were also serving in our mission!  This photo shows them seated across the table from us.

Wednesday after attending 3 sessions, we gathered for a special meeting with President and Sister Kosak before dinner.
We ate at - Schwanenschlüsschen - the charming restaurant on the lake as you enter Freiberg.

The buffet was typical German dishes such as sauerbraten, rotkohl, potato pancakes with applesauce and German goulash.  Everything was delicious!

The Temple President and his wife joined us for the meal.

Both evening dinners gave us a chance to get to know the other couples better.

It was good to learn about each other and all that we share in common as we serve in the various cities of the Germany Berlin Mission.

Thursday morning we attended our last temple session and then left to return home with renewed commitment, dedication and focus.

  1. I love seeing pictures of that miracle temple and So glad you got to go! My goodness, that's a picture of ROSS Cook. Blast from the past. He looks so much like his father. Does he have his cheerful, outgoing personality? Probably, as Katie was that way, too. Good people. I'm so glad you got to go and had a good time.

  2. I'm sure your temple trip was a much needed break. Looks like you had not only a delicious feast, but a spiritual feast as well. You both look so happy!

  3. To have such lifting, spiritual experiences in and around that history-making temple is wonderful! And I loved getting to see Jerry Cook after all of these years - he was the cool older guy in Mutual. And he does look so much like Ross - just a thinner face. The couples all look so sweet and friendly, and I'm glad you guys got a chance to get to know them better. You'll have stories to tell us when you get home, and I can't wait!
