Game Day - BYU vs U of U 

September 10, 2016

Each year, Evan and Kelly host the BYU vs U of U game.  With graduates and fans of both schools, we have some fun and interesting rivalry!  We eat yummy  food and even the kids are dressed in their "school's colors".

This year's game was especially exciting right to the finish!  I wish the outcome had been different, but it was still a great game!

You can tell who is rooting for whom by the colors they are wearing.  

Wait ... Evan where are your BYU blues and whites? (And, blue jeans don't count!)  Of course, Hailey, Conrad, Dex and London are Utah State Fans so they are not dressed for this occasion!

London Patricia Mickelsen's Blessing

Baby London was blessed at Hailey's parent's home on Sunday - September 11th.

Family and friends gathered for the sweet blessing given by Conrad and then a dinner of:

jdawg hot dogs with all the trimmings, fresh fruit, chips and brownies.

BYU Education Week, Springville Quilt Show and September Tea Party

BYU Education Week

Some of my favorite people came to Education Week this year.  Lois, Nancy, Lyle and his wife Neica.  So, we had to have a get together!  We had dinner(barbecue pork sandwiches, fresh fruit, veggies and dip, macaroni salad, chips and carmel apple cake for dessert) at our house and an evening of reminiscing and catching up on each other's lives.

 We were all so proud of Lyle!  He was one of the Education Week presenters this year!
  His class was on Raising Responsible and Resilient Children.

Hal and I attended the Friday session and some other classes and Lyle's was by far the best class we went to!  He is an awesome teacher with years of experience as a clinical social worker and counselor for LDS Social Services and for the Missionary Training Center.

I was so proud of Lyle and happy that I know him now that he is famous!

Friday evening we met Pam and Roger, Mindy and Addie for dinner at a Mexican restaurant and then we went to Jenny Oaks Baker And Family Four concert at BYU.

 It was a yummy dinner!

The concert was so good - what a talented family!!

Springville Quilt Show

The girls and I and the four little ones went to the quilt show - there were many beautiful quilts!

September Tea Party

We hadn't had a tea party for quite a while so, I decided to have a "Back to School Tea Time".  

I decorated the canning jars and filled them with sunflowers for the centerpieces! (I got the idea for the jars on Pinterest.)

I found a sunflower graphic online and made place cards for everyone.

The girl's ran the Nebo Half Marathon that morning but they were still up for a tea party that afternoon!  I don't know how they do it - they are amazing!

 I made cucumber sandwiches following a recipe from The Unofficial Downton Abbey Cookbook and they were really good!  I also used that spread to make meat and cheese sandwiches and the pinwheel roll ups.  I 

 made some peanut butter and jam sandwiches for the kids.  We had fruit kabobs and veggies and dip - everything was delicious!

We also had strawberry tarts, wedding cookies, sugar cookies, mini cupcakes and rice krispie treats.  Of course we had lemonade and herbal tea too!

After lunch we talked about our ancestors - I showed pictures and told the girls some stories about Grandma Libby, Grandma Dorothy and Grandma Ruby.  Following the Back to School theme, the favors were little notebooks and ink pens with colored ink.  After lunch and the stories, the moms visited; and the girls played together and created a really cute skit for us to watch. They are so creative!  We always have fun when we are together!
